Use cliparts for advertising

Advertising today has many faces. Among them are also the so popular cliparts, which probably everyone knows in a variant of the word processing programs. Flyers, brochures, posters, posters for market stalls, but also the company's website can be spiced up and made more interesting with cliparts. Even on freebies the motives can be applied. But is that easy? How should the advertising around the cliparts be designed and what requirements must entrepreneurs observe in order to be legally on the safe side? This article deals with the topics.

Before going deeper into the matter, it has to be said that not all cliparts can be used for advertising or corporate purposes. For example, the clipart included in Word or other word processing programs is for personal use only. Who wants to use it commercially, requires a corresponding license. But what does commercial use mean? Some examples:
  • Advertising for retailers / products / localities - this is clearly commercial. The cliparts used must therefore be either royalty-free for all types of use, or merchants must buy a license. As a rule, the usage rights can be easily obtained on clip art pages for smaller amounts.
  • Private posters - intended for the wedding, the 18. Birthday of the child or for the anniversary in the circle of relatives posters are created, the ordinary cliparts are sufficient. A special license is unnecessary.
  • flea market- who only occasionally sells at a flea market and wants to create a billboard for the table, which may usually work without appropriate licenses.
Once this has been clarified, it can go to the design of the poster. Of course, it depends on what you want to achieve and where the posters are hung. Important is:
  • Suitable selection - Cliparts may not be selected for advertising just according to their appearance. They should be thematically appropriate to the advertising or at least not contrary to it. For example, a butcher's shop can draw on happy-looking cartoon pigs or cows, and a vegan deli should refrain from using these cliparts.
  • Less is more - just inexperienced advertisers like to use too many clips to decorate their poster. The cliparts serve exclusively as an eye-catcher and for accents. The focus should still be on the actual advertising message: what is it, where is it, how is it, when is it?

Who created the posters themselves, should play around with some ideas and quietly get more opinions. Depending on the desired message and advertising type, it may also be that flyers are better suited than posters.

Freebies with cliparts

Can not spice up giveaways with great cliparts? Certainly, because depending on the type of gift they look great on them. For giveaways, however, more attention must be paid to ensure that decoration and advertising balance each other. The cliparts must under no circumstances overshadow the company name or the logo - after all, the gifted with the gimmick operation and not a funny mouse in connection. Deeper into the Arts bag of tricks, companies can seize company celebrations or special promotions. Anyone who spends balloons, umbrellas or other large-scale freebies and souvenirs can use the cliparts easily. But which freebies are suitable? An overview:
  • pen - they are among the most useful promotional gifts and can be wonderfully printed with the company logo, name or even an additional saying. Clipart also fits on various ballpoint pens. This means companies can have artistic prints pen give away.
  • Magnets - These are especially interesting for companies with a younger adult target group: The target group loves magnets. They fit on refrigerators, sometimes on door frames, are used for notes - and they can be dreamily designed with cliparts.
  • Lighters - one page the company logo with slogan, on the other hand nice cliparts. Lighters are practical giveaways that are often taken by non-smokers.
  • Features - If you want to send regular customers something for special holidays or occasions, you will find tons of ideas in the world of freebies. In most cases, they are larger in size, so that the company can be presented on a larger scale and the area can be designed with cliparts.

In the case of freebies, everyone should take care to choose products that are as meaningful as possible. For ballpoint pens, good quality is important. Some customers love their coolies so much that they are happy when the face changes.

Clip art in online advertising

And what about the clip art in online advertising? Here it depends on the advertising variant:

  • Home - In the news or blog section of the webpage may of course be used with cliparts. In all other areas, the type of company decides. If you want to present yourself and your company seriously, you will do without the drawings. But here too there are exceptions. The homepage of kindergartens, youth clubs, paediatricians and many clubs may always be coupled with cliparts. They are a no-go in the funeral industry.
  • advertisements - who advertises on Facebook, must make a striking and interesting ad. Cliparts can help again. But beware: The motif may not contain any font, otherwise there is not enough room left for the ad text.
  • specialized search engines - On doctors, hotel or restaurant search portals should also be waived cliparts. At third-party sites are most motives are not suitable. Customers will first come across the name and reviews and decide if they want more information. Depending on the interested party, the motives may deter.
Finally, it must be weighed out and, if necessary, tested a little. A well-placed and appropriately selected clipart can look wonderful on one lawyer's home page, but be completely misplaced on the next.
